Treatment Process for Effective Pest Management

5 way scientific treatment process

1. Inspection

A pest inspection is a thorough examination of your property by a licensed and qualified pest inspector. The inspector will look for signs of current or past pest activity, such as droppings, nests, damage, stains, odors, or sounds. They will also identify any potential entry points, food sources, or conducive conditions for pests, such as cracks, gaps, moisture, clutter, or vegetation. The inspector will provide you with a detailed report of their findings and recommendations.

2. Identification

Whether your pest is a weed, insect, animal, microbe, or other organism, correct identification of your pest makes controlling it easier and often more effective. A mistake in identification can lead to improper control tactics that cost time and money. It may also lead to unnecessary risks to people or the environment.

3. Prevention

Remove sources of food, water and shelter. Store food in sealed plastic or glass containers. Garbage containing food scraps should be placed in tightly covered trash cans. Remove garbage regularly from your home.

4. Treatment

It’s important to give it time for pest control to take effect. Most products need time to dry . Most products have longer residual affect, lasting up to 2-3 months if undisturbed. Therefore avoid mopping along the (edges)wall floor junction of the room where pesticides have been used. It will leave the treatment in place and yield better results.

5. Monitoring

Monitoring (scouting) is a basic component of integrated pest management (IPM) programs. Monitoring is the regular inspection of field crops for pests, including insects, pathogens, nematodes, and weeds. Monitoring includes the following: (1) making accurate identifications of pests and related crop injury present in the field; (2) determining the abundance of the pest populations; (3) recording crop stage and management practices; and (4) carefully recording all field observations. Monitoring provides many advantages. It serves as an early warning system for the presence of pests and diseases. This allows for the implementation of appropriate pest control strategies before pest populations and diseases escalate. Furthermore, regular monitoring allows for the evaluation of pest management control actions, including the use of natural enemies.
